Hi friends! I am back from the beach and excited to share a quick n’ easy workout that you can take to the shore. The picturesque background is reason enough to consider working out waterside!
Vacations are for relaxing, not for working – so working out isn’t usually a tip-top priority for me while I am away. Case in point: I spent about 90% of my time lounging under a cabana (and not moving a muscle!) while in Cayman over the weekend. Those lounge chairs lured me in and didn’t let me go!
I came to the conclusion that I needed to squeeze a workout into the trip at some point. I had no excuse. I knew that merely opting to take the stairs instead of the elevator wouldn’t be enough to offset my penchant for Caribbean cuisine – so a bodyweight, beachside workout fit the bill!
This is an uncomplicated, no-equipment-required-style workout. It is the easiest way to burn it out on the beach, unless you plan on packing some hand weights in your suitcase. (Warning: Packing hand weights in your suitcase is not recommended. Yes, I did this once. What was I thinking?! Heaviest. Suitcase. Ever.)
I like to keep my workouts simple and unregimented while vacationing, knowing that I will kick it up a notch when I get back to the real world. This particular workout is an easy and straightforward way to cover all of your bases (legs, arms, core) on the beach.
1. Warm up: Jog along the beach for 5 minutes.
2. Stop for bodyweight exercise: 25 Squats
3. Run along beach for 2 minutes
4. Stop for bodyweight exercise: 90-second Plank Hold
5. Run along beach for 2 minutes.
6. Stop for bodyweight exercise: 20 Tricep Dips on Lounge Chair
7. Run along beach for 2 minutes
8. Stop for bodyweight exercise: 10 Walk-It-Out Pushups (my absolute favorite!)
(Complete the entire circuit above 3 times)
Walk along the beach (or hop in the water!) to cool down after completed.
This workout should take about 41 minutes (cool down not included). Guess What? That means you have 23 hours and 19 minutes of pure vacation chill-time left in your day! Plus, you will be feeling great because you took time to take care of you.
So next time you hit the beach, get your bronze-on while you exercise with the workout above (or your own variation!) Tan and Tone simultaneously : multitasking at its finest!
But please learn from my mistake… If you are desiring an even tan while exercising this close to the equator, don’t wear a sports bra with lots of sassy straps (like my fav lululemon one featured in the pics). I obviously didn’t think that through, and my crazy tan lines are proof. Maybe just sweat it out in your suit!
