Hey there, babe!
I’m Fashion Week bound today, but I want to share my beauty review of the week with you before I board the plane! Especially because it features one of the most bomb.com serums I’ve ever used, EVER! I’m serious about adding more skincare/beauty reviews to FashionAndFrills.com, because like I mentioned in this recent post featuring my go-to skin cleansers, I love reading beauty reviews and finding the best of the best when it comes to skincare! Today I’m zoning in on my favorite serums, masks & treatments for healthy, radiant skin. My skin isn’t perfect, but it has improved by leaps and bounds since incorporating these particular products. It’s smoother than it’s ever been, which is promising!
This is BY FAR my favorite skincare product. It’s a serum sensation. From Nordstrom and Amazon to Birchbox and Bloomingdales – the reviews say IT ALL. Read them… it’ll persuade you to purchase like I did, I promise. The term “holy grail serum” is used about 70 times. After trying it for myself (I’m on bottle #2!), I’m not surprised.
This potion packs a punch of pretty. It gives your skin instant, undeniable radiance. Bye bye, dull skin. Hello, JLo glow! The best part is that my breakouts have been few and far between since using this magic in a bottle. The across-the-board effectiveness of this serum makes the fairly high price point 100% worth it.
These “Even Skin” beta hydroxy pads rock. Similar to the serum above, they are an exfoliator. So I wouldn’t use these two in tandem. However, sometimes I use one on a Monday and the other on a Tuesday. I like to keep my skin guessing. It’s an especially good exfoliator for sensitive skin because it’s not rough and tough yet it’s effective.
As far as the packaging, I suggest you keep the foil cover partially intact as an extra layer of protection from the air. And screw that lid on super duper tight so that the pads don’t dry out. The Nordstrom sale associate even suggested that I add an extra layer of armor by storing in a Ziploc bag, just to be safe.
This one is another winner when it comes to the reviews (which is totally why I tried it!) The best part is, it totally lived up to the hype!! It’s a bizarrely bubbly, foam mask that invigorates and oxygenates the skin. There’s an unusual yet satisfying tingle on your pores that I can’t really describe. You have to try it to understand it. Whatever it is, it provides immediate luminosity!! And there’s nothing better than an instant result when we’re talking skincare. Because typically these treatments take weeks! Instant gratification is always nice, am I right?!
Glam Glow dupe, guys! And it’s only $12.99 (plus right now it’s buy 1 get 1 for 50% off!!) This mud makes my skin feel super duper clean. (Was that sentence an oxymoron or what?!) I suggest you only keep it on your skin for the 10-15 minutes it suggests. I got a bit distracted by laundry a few weeks back while trying this clay mask… and 30 minutes later I realized that it was still on my face. It’s easy to forget since it doesn’t sting. My skin seemed a bit red, splotchy & overexposed after leaving it on for double the recommended timing. However, I tried this mask again last evening and kept it on for 15 minutes flat, and the results were phenom!! My skin felt crazy-clean and sublimely soft.
These eye masks WORK. Just check out the stellar reviews. My only qualm is the super hefty price for only 16 treatments (and that’s only 8 treatments per eye!) But, if it’s in your budget, these little wonders will de-puff and brighten up your eye in under half an hour! After reading the reviews, I always keep them under each eye for at least 20 minutes. The package says you can remove after only 5, but in this particular case, I think that the longer the better! The formula is super gentle yet effective.
#6 Find: Natural Aqua Gel
This one is crazy-cool and a bit bizarre. I feel like a mad scientist every time I apply it to my skin – because it’s freaky weird and insanely effective at the same time. The skin-sational reviews (and the Amazon Prime delivery!) lured me in… and then I read this Refinery29 review… so I was SOLD!
According to Amazon, this Aqua Gel is the #1 exfoliator in Japan, selling 1 bottle every 12 seconds. The fascinating part is in the application. After washing your face, you apply this gel to your dry skin. Let it sit for a few seconds and then massage the gel on your face in a circular motion. You will be stunned (and possibly squeemish!) as you see the dead skin slough off of the surface of your skin. It’s really weird, but it seems to work!
It’s perfect for sensitive skin since the abrasion-free formula does not include grainy sand or exfoliating beads. Supposedly it’s also fragrance and preservative free. But, to be honest, the scent isn’t my favorite. It smells a bit like rubbing alcohol…
But hey, baby-soft skin is worth it.
