Baby Beauchamp is a BOY!
We are SO THRILLED that our sweet gift from God is a baby boy!

We are so excited for our little baby boy on the way!
Thank you SO much for following along this exciting journey! Your kind messages/comments of enthusiasm mean the absolute world to us! I’m 19 weeks along so we’re almost half way there! But boy does this whole pregnancy process seem slow… I’m so ready to meet our little baby boy already!
Our Most Recent Ultrasound
Baby B’s anatomy scan was last Monday, and we are so grateful that the doctor reported that everything is looking healthy and right on track! I get nervous before each and every appointment (and lots of prayers are said!) so it was such a happy relief to hear that all is well. 🙂 We learned that baby boy is measuring at the 91st percentile which, in the words of my husband, means that he’s destined to be a “NFL juggernaut.” (baha.)
Another interesting thing that we discovered during the ultrasound was that I have an anterior placenta- meaning that the placenta developed in front of the baby, closest to my belly button. It is 100% healthy and a-okay; however, this means that I probably won’t feel baby kicks for a few more weeks. Bummer. But it will make it all the more special when it happens!
Getting Back into Fitness
During the 1st trimester (and early 2nd trimester) I wasn’t working out AT ALL. I was just SO DARN TIRED. Also, since this is our first baby, I was a bit hesitant to do anything other than some light walking here and there. And, let’s be honest, the light walking wasn’t really even happening… it was more like light walking from the couch to the fridge. Baha! Now that I’m well into my 2nd trimester I’ve regained my energy and started to incorporate more exercise into my week which feels great! I’m really enjoying Tracy Anderson’s workout DVD The Pregnancy Project. (The arms section is my FAVE!) I’m also going to prenatal yoga every week at We Yogis in Dallas. It’s a lot of fun chatting with the other mamas-to-be in the class! If you’re preggo, I highly recommend that you give a prenatal yoga class a try.
CHEESE. I would eat an entire block of cheddar for lunch if I thought that was healthy for baby. But I will not. Don’t worry.
(But I want to.)
The funny thing is that I started out this pregnancy dairy-free & gluten-free. I’m still going strong on the gluten-free front! I’ve been gluten-free for a few years now so this isn’t hard for me at all. I can live without eating bread, no problem. However, the whole dairy-free thing lasted up until 3 weeks ago. Tom accidentally ordered cheese on my lettuce-wrapped burger at Shake Shack. He brought it home, and the ooey-gooey cheesiness looked too good to pass up. Well, that lettuce-wrapped cheesy deliciousness turned into a cheddar-filled omelette the next morning…
and a parmesan topped salad the next day…
and, the rest is history!
I tried. Maybe I’ll try to go dairy-free again? Maybe I won’t…? I don’t know. I’m going to try to keep the dairy to minimum as much as my pregnancy cravings will allow. I have discovered a new dairy-free favorite that I highly recommend you give a try. This unsweetened Kite Hill almond milk yogurt is HEAVEN! I eat it nearly every morning for breakfast. I sweeten it with (a lot of) this all natural zero-cal sweeter and I top it with blueberries, strawberries, pecans & walnuts. It’s like a gourmet yogurt parfait. Try it. Trust me! SO GOOD.
P.S. I also use the Kite Hill almond milk yogurt instead of sour cream! It’s a great alternative!
What I’m Wearing
Perhaps you’ve noticed, comfy dresses are my jam these days. (see HERE, HERE & HERE for proof.) I wear these maternity spanx underneath my dresses nearly everyday. They offer comfortable support for a growing bump. As a matter of fact, I’m most comfortable when I’m wearing them. They’re a game-changer in my book.
As for pants, they’re a no-go for me other than these super casual pants that I wear around our apartment. I’m actually wearing them right now as I type. 🙂 I haven’t found a pair of maternity jeans that I love. Still on the hunt. I have, however, found 2 pair of maternity leggings that I absolutely adore: these grey workout leggings and these black leggings that aren’t in the “activewear dept” but are great for exercise.
Oh, and I’ve upped my comfy pajama game a bit. I now have my favorite butter-soft pj’s in a whopping 7 colors! A pair for every day of the week. It is all that I sleep in. They’re SO FREAKIN’ SOFT. Pregnant or not, you need these!!!
Like I mentioned in our baby announcement post, I’ve been a bit more anxious during pregnancy than I would have anticipated. I love our little baby boy so much already, and it’s hard to keep my mind from thinking about all of the scary possibilities that I’ve (stupidly) read about online.
P.S. Do not read the baby forums. I repeat, DO NOT READ THE BABY FORUMS. It will only scare you.
I’m still reading Jesus Calling every morning, and it has calmed my “what if” fears on so many occasions. Also, my sweet family friend Jane Bartholomew shared this verse with me and it has been a huge comfort to me when I feel fearful:
“He will keep you in perfect peace as your mind is stayed on Him.” Isaiah 26:3
Another read that keeps me feeling lighthearted and positive is the HILARIOUS book Belly Laughs. It is laugh out loud funny. If you’re pregnant, you’ll get a kick out of it! I promise!
Next up on my reading list is The Happiest Baby on the Block. My sweet friend Abby recommended it, and I just ordered it on Amazon. I’ll keep you posted. 🙂
What I’m Working on Now
1. Our baby registry!
It’s SUPER fun and a bit overwhelming for a first time mama like me! Any and all suggestions are so appreciated! If there is a baby item that you swear by, please leave a comment at the bottom of this blog post and let me know. I would be forever grateful! I started to chip away at our baby registry this past weekend, but I’m sure that I’m missing lots! Also, I’ve decided to use Baby List baby registry as you can add items from any online store. Any thoughts on this?
2. Not sleeping on my back!
So supposedly once you hit 18-20 weeks you are supposed to sleep primarily on your side. As a lifelong back sleeper, this is SO hard for me. Falling asleep has been much trickier than it used to be, and I find myself laying sleeplessly in bed for hours due to discomfort. I even snagged this pregnancy pillow, but I don’t usually fall asleep while using it. Some doctors say that sleeping on your back isn’t dangerous, but I don’t want to take the risk! Would love any of you ladies to share how you dealt with this!
3. Preventing stretch marks!
I’ve been slathering this organic anti-stretch mark cream on my body day and night! I love the scent and the organic ingredients. I also really like this tummy rub oil. I’ve already gone through an entire container. I haven’t spotted a stretch mark yet, but I’ve got a long way to go! What stretch mark prevention regimen worked for you? I’d love for you to share with me in the comments!
Phew, that post was a long one!
Thank you so much for reading and for sharing this exciting time with us!
lots of hugs to you,
