So glad you’re here! With Monday behind us, and the Fourth of July fast approaching, life is good, right?
This past weekend was such a joy! I flew to Houston to celebrate my best childhood friend, Abby, and her sweet baby on the way! It was such a delight recounting stories of our youth and remembering the countless times that we put on Barbie beauty pageants, counted our collection of Beanie Babies, and tried to be the sneaky one in the Game of Clue. (Surely I’m not the only one that always wanted to be Miss Scarlet..?) Anywho, after a weekend overflowing with nostalgia, I returned to Dallas and knew the perfect wardrobe piece to give a try – the jumper.
Reminiscent of youth and all things carefree, a jumper is a fun way to turn back the clock for a day. Luckily, if you pair it with heels, a sophisticated bag, and a bold bracelet stack, your outfit is bound to read playful, not playground. 🙂 Also, if you can’t quite muster the courage to don dungarees, the jumper is a perfect way to put a feminine twist on the overall trend!
Another reason that my weekend was an absolute delight was THIS BOOK, Front Roe by Louise Roe! It’s a must-buy, must-read, must-love kind of book, especially if you are a fan of Louise Roe and her swoon-worthy style (who isn’t?!). I kid you not, I broke out my highlighters and couldn’t stop marking up this fantastic read. With an emphasis on cultivating one’s personal style, she offers numerous tips and tricks that will help you look and feel your best.
A few that I have put to use…
1. “Don’t be afraid to repair, alter, and customize existing pieces to give them new life.”
Case and point, this striped crop top. It was a dress just a few, short days ago! It was old (and pretty darn tight!) so I took scissors to it and transformed it into a more usable wardrobe piece. Let’s be honest, no one wants to wear a super tight dress with horizontal stripes anyway…so re-purpose your clothing and get creative!
2. “Spend money on classic items…and go to the cheap stores for an edgy trend that might not tickle your fancy this time next year…none of us are going to be digging baggy denim overalls for years to come.”
Case and point, this jumper. It’s not exactly a wardrobe staple like a classic LBD or the perfect pencil skirt, so I went affordable on this one! And lucky for you guys, it just went on sale!!
3. “…blue and orange is a killer combo!”
Case and point, this entire look. I have always adored this color combination, so thank goodness Louise approves! Not only is it an aesthetically pleasing duo, she states that orange clothing gives off feelings of happiness, enthusiasm, warmth & energy while blue sends messages of trust, responsibility, loyalty & integrity. So, orange and blue is a winning combination whether your goal is to look #amaze or to snag that job!
