Hi lovelies! I hope your day was absolutely fabulous! If not (or even if so!) I have an activity that is sure to put a smile on your face!
- Walk over to your closet.
- Or run!
- Bask in the glory of your wardrobe.
- Pull out all of the fun printed pieces hiding amongst your hangers.
- They are hidden gems, I tell you!
- Lay them all out on your bed.
- Aren’t they pretty? 🙂
- Start mixing & matching your prints with one another.
- The fun part!
Did your #ootd creativity just shoot through the roof?! I bet it did! When you start print mixing, you turn your closet into a playground of possibilities.
Before I go all-out Sir Mix-a-Lot on my wardrobe, I always consider the color tones of each print and I try to pair accordingly. But, let’s be honest, the rule book was thrown out long ago! If you are loving a print combo that is straight-up cray, just say “to heck with the color tones!” and go for it! Oftentimes, you’ll end up looking fabulously gutsy and, who knows, you might even start a trend of your own! Let’s be fearless when it comes to our wardrobe, ladies. It’s liberating!
Of course there is totally a time and a place for being matchy-matchy. Matching Separates are totally my jam (as seen in this previous post) BUT so are Un-Matching Separates. I love it all, people. I’m never going to put my style in a box or label my style as “classic” or “edgy” or “boho” — I want to be them all! Why not channel Jackie O’s chic simplicity one day and Kate Moss’ effortless ease the next?
Not ready to take the plunge by going print on print? No problemo. Take baby steps with accessories by incorporating printed scarves, bags, & belts. A patterned clutch + a printed dress = a super fab and super foolproof way to add some adventure to your look. And nothing, I repeat NOTHING, is more fun than adding a pair of patterned pumps into the mix. They will instantly turn ho-hum into lotsa fun!
So in a nutshell, let your creativity soar by mixing up your prints and exploring all the variety that your closet has to offer! It sure makes life more fun! Maybe a little too much fun…like in the pic below 🙂 Sometimes a twirl takes on a life of its own and your purse just about takes flight!
