Hi there, friend! 🙂
I’m a sucker for a good “before and after” so let’s hop right to the dramatic transformation!
The oh-so-messy closet “before”… yikes!!
And… the fantastically-fabulous OMG organized closet “after”!!

Holy moly, can you believe the magic that the NEAT Method worked on our mess??
Margaret, the fabulous leader of the NEAT Method Dallas team, was brimming with organizational ideas during our initial consult. But, the best part is, that the final product was even better than I could have expected! She used organizational tools from The Container Store in the most ingenious ways! Her closet hacks are making mornings much smoother now that every item has its place. I’m thrilled to announce that it’s been over a month and it looks exactly the same!! Tom and I have kept up the cleanliness of our closet to a “T”!! It’s a miracle. I’ll show you some real-time closet closeups on my Instagram story videos today to prove that we’ve kept it up! So stay tuned on my Insta, @fashionandfrills!
Without further ado, here are all of the deets about the day of our closet overhaul!
Margaret and her NEAT Method team member Ashton showed up bright and early in the morning and worked until the sun went down! They took everything out of the closet, organized items by type and color, purchased organizational solutions at The Container Store, and then set up the new closet design ALL IN ONE DAY. Talk about diligence.
Side Note: Since we had just moved into our new unit that very week, I had recently donated and sold a lot (and I mean A LOT) of clothes/accessories/shoes that Tom and I hadn’t been using. So, I highly suggest you give your closet a clean sweep before your big day of organization! If not, you can sift through your items with your Licensed Home Organizer. It will just take some extra time.
Here’s a glance at some of the organizational tools that Margaret implemented in order to make our space most efficient.
She used linen drawer organizers to showcase Tom’s ties and belts in the most creative way! They are the Narrow 8-Section Drawer Organizers in linen. Of course these can also be used within drawers to organize socks and such! Tom and I both love the look of this.
Margaret utilized our closet’s built-in shelving to create the most glorious wall of (color coded!) shoes. However, since shoes are my weakness, they didn’t all fit. Also, Tom needed shoe storage too. Margaret and Ashton put together 3 shoe stackers to run along the base of the closet under my skirts and dresses. They are such a perfect solution for flats and tennies. She swears by the simplicity of assembly since all that’s needed is a philips head screwdriver. The result is a clean, modern shoe storage solution, and guess what? Each unit is only $17.99!
As a huge fan of the ever-so-popular over the knee boot, I needed a solution for my growing collection. Previously I stored them in their boxes. This took up SO much space and I would forget about them since I couldn’t see them. These boot shapers are a low cost solution to keep your boots upright and out of the way. They have a tall and short size so they’ll work for booties too!
Margaret used tall shoe bins to organize my clutches! How brilliant is that? They’re the perfect size to line up small bags. And the clear acrylic makes it easy to see each and every one.
Margaret loves the versatility of these Montauk bins because if you take out the linen insert, they can also be used for other storage purposes like flip flops. They’re also available in a gorgeous grey!
I HEART these linen bins. They’re multi-purpose, durable & fairly inexpensive. Margaret lined them up on the very top row of the closet to pack away anything that might not be used on a daily basis. She even put 2 in the laundry room for our linens and towels. Btw, I break out this collapsable ladder to reach them if need be.
They labeled each and every bin with these darling neutral gift tags. They ensure that we put the right things in the right place every single time. Love ’em.
Last, but definitely not least… let’s chat HANGERS!
Although the majority of our clothes were already hung up with velvet, non-slip hangers, Margaret and Ashton changed over any stragglers that I had missed! And Margaret taught me a great trick! Since we have to dry clean Tom’s suit shirts, I’ve always been a bit bothered by the wire hangers from the dry-cleaner that end up clogging up our closet. Things slip off of those hangers so quickly, and they doesn’t look nearly as pretty! 🙂 In the past, I just let it be. Margaret suggested that, since most dry cleaners only button the top button of the suit shirt, it’s simple as pie to switch out the hangers by sliding the wire hanger down and the new velvet hanger up the bottom. This ensures better support for the shirt and it maintains the cohesive look of the closet. Plus, I recently learned that keeping your dry cleaned clothing in the plastic bag isn’t best, because the fabric needs to breath. I’ve made it a habit to change out the hangers on his suit shirts first thing when I get home from the dry cleaner. It’s not nearly as much of a bother as I would have imagined!
Does the NEAT Method team deserve a round of applause, or what? They were an absolute delight to work with, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the incredible job that they completed in just 1 work day! Wowza.
